What causes it
Seats get dirty from the inside out. Body oils, sweat and sunscreen soak into fabric and settle into the grain of leather. Brisbane's heat makes it worse, because people sweat more and hot seats open up to absorb whatever lands on them. Over time, fabric goes dark and patchy, and leather turns shiny, sticky or starts to crack.
What we see most:
- Darkened driver's seat bolsters and headrests from skin oils and hair products
- Food and drink spills in the back from kids
- Sunscreen marks after beach trips
- Dye transfer from new jeans on light leather
- Crumbs and grime packed into seams and baby seat bases
- Dry, faded leather from sun through the windows
How we fix it on-site
Car upholstery cleaning works differently for fabric and leather, so we treat them separately. Fabric gets a pre-treatment, agitation and hot-water extraction to pull dirt out of the foam. Leather gets a pH-appropriate cleaner worked into the grain with a soft brush, wiped off, then conditioned. Both finish with a dry-time check.
Fabric and cloth seats
- Vacuum seats, seams and the gaps between seat and console.
- Pre-treat stains and high-contact areas.
- Agitate with upholstery brushes.
- Hot-water extract to rinse the fibres and pull the dirty water out.
- Dry with airflow so the seats aren't left damp.
Leather and vinyl seats
- Vacuum perforations and stitching.
- Apply leather cleaner and work it in gently.
- Wipe away the lifted grime.
- Condition the leather to help keep it supple in the heat.
Leather seat cleaning won't fix cracks or worn colour. If the leather is damaged, a leather repairer is the right person. We'll point out what we see.

Baby seat cleaning
Child car seats collect crumbs, milk and worse in places you can't easily reach. We can vacuum and clean the seat shell and fabric cover. Safety harness straps shouldn't be soaked or cleaned with harsh chemicals, so we follow the seat maker's care label for those. If you can, take the cover off before we arrive, or leave it fitted and we'll work around it.

How long it takes
Most seat cleaning jobs take one and a half to three hours. Fabric seats then need a few hours to dry fully, depending on the weather. Leather is usually ready to sit on straight away once it's wiped down.

Is there car seat cleaning near me?
If you're in our Brisbane service area, yes. We're mobile, so you don't need to find a workshop. We come to your home, office or unit complex. Enter your address when you book online to check we cover your suburb.
How long do fabric seats take to dry?
Usually two to six hours, depending on the weather and airflow. Hot-water extraction removes most of the water, so seats feel only slightly damp when we finish. Leave windows down a little in a secure spot to help them dry faster.
Is a car seat cleaning service worth it compared with doing it myself?
Spray-and-wipe upholstery cleaners lift surface marks but leave the dirty liquid in the foam, which can bring stains back as it dries. Hot-water extraction rinses and removes it. For a quick touch-up, DIY is fine. For seats that are dark all over, extraction gives a much better result.
Can you clean light-coloured leather seats with dye transfer?
Fresh dye transfer from jeans usually comes off with a proper leather cleaner. Older transfer that has sat in the sun can be harder to shift and may need a leather repairer. We'll test it and tell you what to expect.
