Mobile Engine Bay Detailing in Brisbane

An engine bay detail is a careful degrease and dress of everything under the bonnet. We cover sensitive electrics, lift oil film and road grime with a controlled amount of water, then dress the plastics and hoses so the bay looks tidy and well kept. Our engine bay detailing Brisbane service is done at your home or work, usually as an add-on to a package.

What's included

Our engine bay detail cleans the visible surfaces under the bonnet and leaves them dressed with a dry, non-greasy finish. It's a cosmetic clean. It doesn't fix leaks or replace a mechanic's inspection, but it does make the bay look cared for, and makes fresh leaks easier to spot later.

Step What we do
Cool-down check We only work on an engine that's cool to the touch
Protect Cover the alternator, fuse box, air intake and exposed electrical connections
Degrease Apply a degreaser suited to engine bays and agitate with brushes
Rinse Low-pressure rinse with a controlled amount of water
Dry Blow out and towel dry crevices
Dress Plastics, rubber hoses and covers dressed
Bonnet Underside of the bonnet and the bonnet seal wiped down

Why we don't blast it

High-pressure water and electrics don't mix. A gentle approach takes longer, but it's the safe way to clean a modern engine bay full of sensors and connectors. Very old or modified engines may need an even lighter touch. We'll talk to you if we have any concerns before we start.

Who it suits

Engine detailing is mostly about presentation and care. Most owners book it alongside another service rather than on its own.

It makes sense when:

  • You're selling the car. Buyers lift the bonnet. A clean bay suggests a car that's been looked after. It's already included in our Pre-Sale Detail.
  • You've just bought a used car and want a clean slate to check for leaks.
  • The bay is caked in dust after unsealed roads, acreage driveways or work sites. Tradies can pair it with work ute detailing.
  • You're a car enthusiast and want it as clean under the bonnet as outside.

If the bay is soaked in fresh oil, there may be a leak to fix first. We'll point out anything obvious, but a mechanic should look at it.

How a mobile visit works

The car needs to be cool, so we'll either start with the engine bay before the car's been driven or do other parts of the job first. Book it as an add-on to a Full Detail or as a standalone service.

We arrive self-sufficient where access allows, and we'll confirm water and power needs when you book. Because we use water and degreaser, engine bay cleaning needs a spot where light run-off is acceptable. Basements in apartment buildings often aren't suitable, so let us know your parking setup when you book.

After the clean

Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes once we're done. This helps dry any remaining moisture. It's normal to see a little steam as residual water evaporates.

Pricing (from)

An engine bay detail is from $XX for a small car. Larger engines in 4WDs, utes and vans take longer, so they cost more.

Vehicle size bands are small car, sedan, SUV, 4WD or ute, and 7-seater or van. Very heavy grease or mud build-up may need extra time, and we'll tell you before we start. You can see all prices on the pricing page. Driving something older, modified or electric? Call 0402 723 464 before you book.

Insured to $20 million

We work carefully around electrics, but accidents can happen on any job. Every engine bay detail is covered by public liability insurance up to $20 million. We've been trading for 8 years.

FAQs

Is engine bay detailing safe?

Yes, when it's done carefully. We work on a cool engine, cover electrical parts and air intakes, use a suitable degreaser and rinse at low pressure with a controlled amount of water. We then dry the bay and dress the plastics.

Does an engine bay clean improve performance?

No. It's a cosmetic clean. It won't make the engine run better, but a clean bay makes it easier to spot new leaks, worn hoses or loose parts early.

How often should an engine bay be cleaned?

For most cars, once a year or before selling is plenty. Cars that see dirt roads, work sites or beach driving may benefit more often.

Can you clean the engine bay of a hybrid or electric car?

We take extra care with hybrids and EVs and avoid high-voltage components entirely. Tell us the make and model when you book so we can confirm what's suitable.

Can I book engine bay detailing on its own?

Yes, but most customers add it to a package so everything is done in one visit. It's already part of our Pre-Sale Detail.
