If your dog rides in the back every weekend, you already know a normal vacuum barely touches the hair. What causes it

Pet hair gets woven into car fabric, not just sitting on top of it. Short, coarse coats like those on Staffies, Labradors and Kelpies spear into carpet loops and seat cloth. Static and body oils hold it there, which is why it survives a servo vacuum and keeps turning up on your clothes.

A few things make it worse in a Brisbane car:

  • Humid days. Moisture in the cabin makes hair cling and mat into the carpet pile.
  • Boot liners and cargo mats. These are usually needle-felt, which grabs hair like velcro.
  • Shedding season. Double-coated breeds drop their undercoat in spring, right when the weather warms up and the windows come down.
  • Seat covers that slip. Hair works its way under the cover and into the seat seams.

Cat hair is finer and harder to see, but it's just as stubborn on dark upholstery.

How we fix it on-site

We remove pet hair in stages, starting dry and finishing with a vacuum and wipe-down. A single pass with a vacuum won't do it. Most of the work is loosening the hair from the fibres first, then lifting it out, panel by panel, so it doesn't just move from one seat to the next.

Here's how a typical job runs at your driveway or car park:

  1. Dry loosening. Rubber pet-hair tools and stiff brushes drag embedded hair to the surface of carpet, seats and the boot.
  2. Compressed air. We blow hair out of seat rails, seams, vents and the gaps around the console where a vacuum nozzle can't reach.
  3. High-suction vacuum. A second and third pass over every fabric surface, including under the seats.
  4. Fabric clean. If there's dander, drool or a wet-dog smell, we follow up with an upholstery clean on the affected areas.
  5. Final check. We run a gloved hand over the seats and carpet to find what's left.

Pet hair removal works well on its own, but it pairs naturally with our full interior car detailing if the rest of the cabin needs attention too. That's how most pet owners book it.

We arrive self-sufficient where access allows; we'll confirm water and power needs when you book.

What it costs (from)

Pet hair removal is from $XX. The final price depends on the size of the vehicle and how much hair is embedded. A hatch with a light coat of cat hair is quicker than a 7-seater that's carried two shedding Labradors every day for a year.

Vehicle What changes the price
Small car, sedan or hatch Usually the lower end; fewer seats and less carpet
SUV or 4WD Larger cargo area and more carpet
7-seater or van Third row, bigger boot, more seat seams

Heavy pet hair is also a condition surcharge on other packages, so if you're booking a Full Detail for a car with a dog in it, select the pet hair add-on so the time is allowed for. Full details are on our pricing page.

How long it takes

Pet hair removal on its own usually takes one to three hours. A lightly affected sedan sits at the shorter end. A family SUV with hair packed into the boot carpet and third row can take most of a morning. When it's added to a full interior detail, allow extra time on top of that package.

You don't need to stay with us while we work. We'll message you when it's done.

FAQs

Can you get all of the dog hair out of my car?

We get the vast majority out, including the hair woven into carpet and boot liners. On very old, heavily matted carpet a few strands can stay locked in the backing, and we'll point those spots out to you. Most customers find the car looks and feels like it's never carried a dog.

Do you use anything that's unsafe for my pet?

The main tools are mechanical: rubber brushes, compressed air and suction. Where we clean fabric, we let the car air out before handing it back. If your pet has known skin sensitivities, tell us when you book so we can adjust what we use on the seats they sit on.

Should I book pet hair removal or a full interior detail?

If the hair is the main problem and the rest of the cabin is fine, pet hair removal alone is enough. If there are also muddy paw prints, drool on the windows or a smell, an interior detail with the pet hair add-on covers everything in one visit.

How do I keep the hair under control afterwards?

A fitted seat cover or boot liner you can take out and shake is the easiest fix. A quick rubber-brush pass every week or two stops hair from building up and embedding. Most dog owners book us every few months to reset the cabin.

Is car interior cleaning for pet owners different from a normal detail?

Yes, mainly in time and tools. Standard car interior cleaning assumes a vacuum lifts most debris. With pet hair, we spend longer loosening it before vacuuming, and we pay more attention to seat seams, boot carpet and air vents where hair collects.
